Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
